Description

A set of 4 fine Limoges porcelain plates with scalloped edges, gilt rim and gilt monogram.

Four white porcelain plates with scalloped edges, trimmed with a gilt rim and decorated with a gilt monogram.

Limoges owes its reputation to the discovery, around 1768, of a kaolin deposit at Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, which made the production of hard-paste porcelain possible from 1771. Since then, “Limoges” has denoted a production centre comprising numerous manufactories.

Monogrammed services were commissioned for a family or household: these plates retain all of that refinement.
