Vodou flags, or drapo, are the most emblematic art form of Haitian Vodou: originally carried during ceremonies to salute the spirits, they have become sought-after works, exhibited notably at the Fowler Museum of the University of California (UCLA). The introduction of sequins, around 1940, is attributed to the artist Joseph Fortine.
