Signed oil on canvas dated 1974: colourful boats in front of the houses of a fishing harbour.
Oil on canvas signed by Mario Irace and dated 1974. The painter captures a small harbour on the Amalfi Coast: fishing boats with brightly painted hulls moored in front of old façades, washing drying at the windows and green awnings, all reflected in water alive with touches of blue, green and pink.
The thick, vibrant brushwork belongs to the tradition of 20th-century Neapolitan painters, who made the villages of the Amalfi Coast — Positano, Amalfi, Atrani — one of the favourite subjects of Mediterranean painting.
The painting is presented in a moulded gilt frame with a light inner mount.
